LONG BEACH, CA (April 16, 2015) – On May 31, 2015, the Long Beach Museum of Art (LBMA) and its fundraising affiliate, Phoenix, will present Art Auction XVI. The Museum’s 2015 fundraiser event will feature more than 150 original works of art by some of today’s most desirable artists including David Choe, Matt Wedel, Martin Whittfooth, Nathan Spoor, F. Scott Hess, Adonna Khare, Patti Warashina, and many more.

In addition, guests will enjoy an open bar with scrumptious dining, a silent auction featuring dozens of high-end items, plus an exciting live auction of extraordinary artworks in a variety of price ranges. Complimentary valet parking will be provided from the Museum’s parking lot. The Museum will utilize its entire campus for the event and guests will enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.

All proceeds from the Auction will support the Museum’s mission to collect and care for a permanent art collection, present changing exhibitions in a variety of media and provide engaging educational programming for youth and adults while serving over 12,000 school children and hundreds of families throughout greater Long Beach each year. These programs give children from every background an opportunity to experience world-class art exhibitions and to explore their own creativity through hands-on art-making workshops.

Prior to the event, all juried and selected art for the auction will be showcased in a month long exhibition from May 7 through May 30. This exhibition will allow for maximum visibility and acknowledgement for its sponsors and for visitors to view the art. Moreover, absentee bids can also be made during the exhibition and on the museum’s website in the online auction gallery.

“We have a fantastic line-up of artworks for sale from some of the most in-demand contemporary artists working today,” said Executive Director of the Long Beach Museum of Art Ron Nelson. “Art Auction XVI will offer art lovers numerous choices to add to their private collection and in turn their purchases will significantly help the Museum to continue to provide the community with captivating exhibition and educational programming.”
