Please join us in welcoming our newest artist in residence, Sovanchan Sorn! Sovanchan received her BFA in Fiber Arts from Cal State Long Beach. Using an intricate loom to weave delicate works from a variety of materials, Sovanchan creates unique pieces largely inspired by her Cambodian background. Her recent work includes a poignant solo show as part of her BFA program, Weaving Our Story, designed to bring healing and awareness to survivors of the Cambodian Genocide.  A native of Long Beach, which is home to the largest Cambodian population outside of South East Asia, Sovanchan participated in LBMA’s KidsVisions program as a child. It is an honor and privilege to have her back at our museum as our artist in residence as she continues with her future in the arts!
