Matisse Through the Eyes of Students

Come and explore how young minds take inspiration from the work of Henri Matisse. This summer, the Museum’s Education Department presents a juried selection of work created by elementary students of Long Beach in the Toyota Children's Gallery. Each work of art portrays the individual student’s unique and creative approach to interpreting the visual style and techniques of one of the most significant 20th century artists. Presented alongside the students’ exhibition, there is an interactive space for visitors of all ages to showcase how they would "create mood with line and color."
