Museum Exhibit Displaying Kids’ Interpretations of Beauty
The Long Beach Museum of Art is currently featuring the work of children in an exhibit entitled Concepts of Beauty. The show was curated in partnership with Millikan High School’s museum studies program, and it explores the meaning of beauty in all of its forms. The exhibit opened June 8 and will run through Aug. 31.
Students, who used many types of art including paintings and mixed media, have defined what beauty means to them. From the environment to culture and much more this student exhibition exemplifies beauty in various forms.
Concepts of Beauty serves as the final exhibit for the 2013-14 academic year and showcases student artwork from Millikan’s art department through a partnership begun in 2012, and it provides students with the opportunity to learn first-hand the process of coordinating an exhibit.
The students in the museum studies program curate, plan exhibits and manage Millikan’s on-campus art gallery.
This educational program was partly funded by Toyota TABC, Inc., who has been a supporter of the program since its inception.
