Jeweled Harmony in Wood | November 22, 2013 - February 23, 2014
Jeweled Harmony in Wood, Frank E. Cummings III, November 22, 2013 – February 23, 2014. One of today’s most extraordinary wood sculpture artists incorporating gold and precious and semi-precious gems, Frank E. Cummings unique work comes to the museum. Cummings’ bejeweled vessels will be presented along with his remarkable tall case clock, Only Time with Tell, 2011-2013. Coincidentally, his first solo museum exhibition was held at the Long Beach Museum of Art in 1974. Cummings’ work has been exhibited worldwide in many significant collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the White House, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. A fully illustrated color catalogue accompanies the exhibition with an essay by Gerald W. R. Ward, Senior Consulting Curator and the Katharine Lane Weems Senior Curator of American Decorative Arts and Sculpture Emeritus, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. (Image: Frank E.
