The hundreds of dedicated volunteers who help the Museum are crucial to our well-being! There are many ways to get involved and to contribute your time.general public.
Each year, the Museum holds a variety of special events to help raise money for our education and exhibitions programming. Volunteers assist staff on the day of the event to complete a range of tasks that contribute to the success of each event.
From time to time, various departments in the Museum seek under-graduate and graduate student interns to assist with daily administrative tasks. Interns gain skills and behind the scenes insights through on the job training. Internship opportunities can be offered in conjunction with college and university credit. Internships can be arranged in Finance, Operations, Development, Collections, and Education departments.

A Docent is a volunteer who provides educational tours for K-12 students of the Long Beach Museum of Art's exhibitions. Docents also assist with hands-on art making activities for local school children.
A Docent is associated with the Docent Council at the Long Beach Museum of Art. Docents receive training to tour a variety of exhibitions at the Museum. Not only are docents a vital asset to the Museum, they are also ambassadors to the public about membership, programs, and exhibitions at LBMA. If you enjoy teaching about the fabulous world of art, consider becoming a docent. No experience is necessary, just a desire to learn and an interest in sharing your love of art with children.
