Throughout the year, the Museum engages in a variety of educational partnerships with Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) to expand artistic opportunities and support career exploration.

More about Partnerships

Millikan Museum Studies Program

The Museum partners with Millikan High School’s Museum Studies program to provide students with real-world experience in the museum field. Over the course of the school year, students meet with Museum staff to learn about different museum roles, explore career pathways, and participate in behind-the-scenes tours. They also collaborate with staff to develop the theme, curate, and install the Museum’s annual Elementary School exhibition—gaining hands-on experience in the curatorial process and workplace learning.

Student Exhibitions

Each year, the Museum hosts juried exhibitions in the John and Helen Apostle Youth Gallery for Long Beach Unified elementary, middle and high school students. Education staff develop themes and education materials for teachers and students to support them in creating their work. Work is curated and professionally installed by Museum staff.
