Sunsets at LBMA: Ladies Sing The Blues
Sunsets N1: Sunsets at LBMA: Ladies Sing the Blues is a special evening of live music presented in partnership with KJazz, celebrating the rich legacy of blues through the voices of three extraordinary Long Beach vocalists.
The program features performances by Francesca Capasso, Sharron Moore, and Pamela Franklin, each bringing their own distinctive style and interpretation to classic and contemporary blues, accompanied by a three-piece band. Hosted by DJ Gary Wagman, Host of Nothin’ but the Blues on KJAZZ.
Set against the backdrop of the Long Beach Museum of Art's oceanfront campus, Ladies Sing the Blues blends world-class local musicianship with the museum's unique atmosphere, offering guests an unforgettable night of music, art, and community as part of the Sunsets at LBMA series.
About the Exhibition
Positive Fragmentation includes over 180 prints drawn from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, each a work by a contemporary artist who employs fragmentation in different ways. Feminist scholar and critic, Lucy Lippard, describes positive fragmentation, or the “collage aesthetic,” as particularly suited to historically marginalized artists (including women), as it “willfully takes apart what is or is supposed to be and rearranges it in ways that suggest what it could be.”
